Steven Woods is Senior Engineering Director for Google in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada.  Since 2008 Steven has applied his entrepreneurial talents to building Google’s engineering and product efforts and leadership in KW across a wide array of consumer and business products.  A serial entrepreneur before Google, Steven built companies in software services and infrastructure, in-game advertising, and consumers services – including Quack.com – the world’s first interactive voice assistant which was sold to America/Online Time Warner in 2000.   Steven serves as Chairman of the board of Communitech – Canada’s most impactful business and startup accelerator and on the board of several Canadian companies –  from startups to FYI Doctors – a global leader in eyecare products and services.  Steven has worked in software development and research areas for nearly 30 years,  holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters and PhD in Computer Science (Mathematics) from the University of Waterloo.  Steven received the JW Graham Medal in Computing and Innovation from U of W in 2010.
